Raj Kapoor Centenary Celebration – Uzbekistan Event
As part of the global Raj Kapoor Centenary Celebration, Respect India is honored to host a special commemorative event in Uzbekistan, marking 100 years since the birth of the legendary Indian filmmaker Shri Raj Kapoor. Widely regarded as a cultural ambassador of Indian cinema, Raj Kapoor’s films have enjoyed immense love and admiration in Uzbekistan, where his work continues to evoke nostalgia and deep emotional resonance.
Uzbekistan has been specially chosen for this celebration in recognition of its historical and cultural affinity with Indian cinema. During the Soviet era and beyond, Raj Kapoor emerged as a beloved icon across Central Asia—especially in Uzbekistan, where his films like Awara and Shree 420 captured the imagination of generations and built a lasting cultural connection between the people of both nations.
The event in Uzbekistan will feature an immersive cultural experience, including film screenings of Raj Kapoor’s classics, exhibitions showcasing rare photographs and personal memorabilia, panel discussions with film historians and cultural scholars, and artistic performances inspired by the themes and music of his cinema.
Under the esteemed leadership of Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Hon’ble Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas (Chairman), and with the support of Shri Manoj Tiwari, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, and renowned filmmaker Shri Rahul Rawail (Vice Chairmen), this celebration in Uzbekistan is envisioned as a heartfelt tribute to a cinematic legend. It also reflects the enduring friendship between India and Uzbekistan, reaffirming the shared cultural values that bind the two nations.
This event will stand as a powerful symbol of Raj Kapoor’s global legacy and the timeless ability of cinema to unite people across borders through emotion, storytelling, and art.
